Post-9/11 incident the Taliban rule ended in Afghanistan and a democratic government was established through Bonn conference December 2001. The held with active intervention of US UN, which distributed power amongst different ethnic groups country, followed by promulgation constitution 2004 “Loya Jirga” Kabul. new proclaimed as sovereign, Islamic Republic-where state’s legitimacy would be achieved universal adult franchise, state ensure fundamental rights citizens. But, despite all these efforts, democracy could not consolidate consequently, returned to after 20 years war. Does paper explain what led failure Afghanistan? And type can best suit Afghan society? finds out that establishing western style strong centralized sharing on an basis at marginalization religious tribal authenticity, used enjoy leverage provinces. Also, centralization resulted corrupting officials, widening gap between society weakened institutions. As result, peace agreement 29th February 2020, captured Kabul 15th August 2021. formulating decentralized authority, mixed sovereignty, aligning principles authority is most feasible form for Afghanistan. According scholars, there compatibility Islam democracy, because believes consultation Bay’a formation, tenets are similar core values namely representation, freedom expression, election.
